i strangely have a type of pimple on my lip, its not exactly/completly on my life, just on the side of it on my top lip...what is this, its not herpies or a cold sore cuz i just know it isnt, what should i do and what the hell is this|||its a blister....put some carmex on your lip|||If it is just a pimple, pop it and it should go away. Do not be so quick, however, to rule out a cold sore (HSV-2, which is the herpes, by the way). Though most of us are exposed to the virus as children and only a small percentage get the actual cold sores, stress/immune factors can cause a cold sore outbreak in someone who does not normally get them. Not everyone gets multiple sores or crusty presentations, so it is entirely possible for it to appear as a %26#039;pimple%26#039; or tinny circular patch of missing skin, especially if you do not normally get them. If it is a cold sore it will linger more than a few days and you may/may not get identical spots next to it. If you are an adult look for other symptoms that sometimes accompany primary presentations in adults - achy or swollen joints (often in, though not limited to the hand), with/without radiating heat and tender to the touch.
If it does linger, see your family physicians for a prescription of Valtrex two1g tabs twice a day for one day. It stops the cold sores more quickly than other cold sore remedies. Over the counter ointments for cold sores are a waste of money - they only shorten the duration of the cold sore by half a day according to clinical studies. Do not kiss anyone, especially children, while you have the cold sore. DO NOT engage in oral sex, while you have the cold sore, as it is possible to transmit HSV-2 as genital herpes to a sexual partner (20% of genital herpes is HSV-2, 20% of oral herpes is HSV-1, they are not mutually exclusive)|||Well, I know you really think it isn%26#039;t herpes or a cold sore, but just know that%26#039;s typically where they tend to present. I assume you have had an acne pimple before, so if it doesn%26#039;t look like a papule or pustule, then I would seriously lean toward a cold sore. It could also be a wart, or a blister.
Anyway, Neutrogena Acne on the Spot spot treatment works overnight to shrink the pimple, get some acyclovir for the cold sore, or go get some wart remover if that%26#039;s your prob. Use carmex for a blister.|||I%26#039;m not sure if by on you lip you mean at the edge of it or exactly smack dab on it. If on it, I agree it is likely a cold sore. However, I get these type of pimples occasionally at the very edge of the lip, which causes the lip to %26quot;swell%26quot; with it just like a pimple on skin. Rub a little soap, preferrably anti-bacterial soap on it a leave it overnight to dry it out or dab periodically with rubbing alcohol. I seem to get them after using some lip creams, glosses, etc. and both work for me
